1. Casa de Tapas Canota - for tasty patatas bravas

Known for its great tapas as well as seafood, patatas bravas, sangria and wine, Casa de Tapas Canota is one of the best tapas bars in Barcelona.

Where to find it ?

The tapas restaurant is situated at 7 c/de Leida and works from 1.30 pm to 4.00 pm and from 7.30 pm to 11.00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 1.30 pm to 4. pm on Sundays.

2. Bar del Pla - the best tapas bar

Quimet I Quimet is a cosy tapas bar in El Poble-sec. Usually, packed with antic bottles of red wine, and famished tacos aficionados it is an iconic eatery.

Despite its puny size, it makes up for it with its impressive selection of really ambrosial tapas. Its main tapas signature dishes are conserves (shellfish preserved in tins), and its sculpted tapas served on bread, known as montaditos, prized by the most jaded of gourmands.

Try other prime examples of Catalan fusion gastronomy such as salmon sashimi with cream cheese, honey and soy, or cod, passata and black olive pâté. However, it's best to get there early to find enough room to tuck into your munchy tacos with enough elbow room...

Bear in mind that Quimet Quimet bar is located at 25, Carrer del Poeta Cabanyes, and works from 12 pm to 4 pm and from 6 pm to 10.3o pm daily except for on weekends...

4. Poleria Fontana

Renowned for home-made Catalan fare, this tapas bar/restaurant, sitting in Vila de Gràcia, serves you some ambrosial in-house authentic Catalan fare.

The diner's chef, Nil Ros and his squad of culinary wizards use his grandmother's recipes to come up with the freshest classic dishes and tapas menu, including paellas.

Where to find it ?

Head from 6 pm to 12 am, to 9 de San Lluis, to gorge on the delicious Catalan food.

5. La Cova Fumada

Run by a household, the tapas bar has been in operation since 1949. Here you can try authentic Catlana tacos, washed down with traditional Catalan wines, all in a non-pareil Barcelona setting...
