How to Get from Barcelona Airport to Soldeu and Grandvalira (2026 Guide)

Fixed price per vehicle · Free cancellation up to 24h

Short answer: Grandvalira's main villages, Soldeu, El Tarter and Pas de la Casa, are on the eastern side of Andorra, beyond Andorra la Vella along the CG-2. From Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN), the budget route is the Andbus coach to Andorra la Vella (about 3h30, €33 one way), then a local bus: L3 to Canillo, El Tarter and Soldeu, or L4 to Pas de la Casa. Andbus also sells resort drop-off options at extra cost. Driving means mountain roads, Andorra's winter tyre or chains rule (1 November to 15 May), and for Pas de la Casa the Envalira tunnel (€8.10) or the 2,408 m pass. The easiest way with skis is a pre-booked private transfer straight to your hotel.

Soldeu, El Tarter or Pas de la Casa?

Grandvalira is one large linked ski area with several base villages:

  • Canillo and El Tarter come first along the CG-2, after Encamp.
  • Soldeu is a few minutes further up the same valley road.
  • Pas de la Casa sits on the French border, on the other side of the Port d'Envalira. From Barcelona you reach it via the Envalira tunnel or over the pass, so it is the furthest Grandvalira village from BCN.
  • Grau Roig is on the Envalira road between Soldeu and Pas de la Casa.

If you are flying to Toulouse instead, Pas de la Casa is the first town after the French border: see our Toulouse Airport to Andorra guide.

1. Bus: Andbus to Andorra la Vella, then a local bus

Andbus runs direct coaches from Barcelona Airport to Andorra la Vella bus station.

  • Route: Airport T1 → Airport T2 → Barcelona Diagonal → Andorra la Vella.
  • Departures from T1: every 2 hours from 06:45 to 22:45, plus 00:45 (T2 about 15 minutes later), as published by Andbus for winter 2026–27.
  • Price: €33 one way, €56 return on the Andbus website, as of November 2026.

From Andorra la Vella, take a national bus:

  • L3 Andorra la Vella – Soldeu, via Encamp, Canillo and El Tarter.
  • L4 Andorra la Vella – Pas de la Casa, via the Envalira tunnel.

Fares are by zone and paid on board. Check the winter timetable on bus.ad: frequencies change by season, and some lines have no Sunday service.

Andbus also offers a resort option when you book. Shared vehicles stop on the main road in Soldeu, as close as possible to your accommodation. In Pas de la Casa, traffic restrictions mean shared transfers generally use the main bus stop.

Pros: cheapest option, from the terminals. Cons: a change in Andorra la Vella with skis and luggage, fixed departures that may not fit your flight, and long waits if your flight is delayed.

2. Driving from Barcelona Airport to Grandvalira

The usual route is C-16 → Cadí tunnel → Bellver de Cerdanya → N-260 to La Seu d'Urgell → CG-1 into Andorra (La Farga de Moles border), then through Andorra la Vella and Escaldes → CG-2 via Encamp and Canillo to El Tarter and Soldeu. For Pas de la Casa, continue past Soldeu and Grau Roig to the Envalira tunnel.

  • Cadí tunnel (2026 toll): €14.56 for a car or van up to 9 seats.
  • Envalira tunnel (2026 toll): €8.10 for a car, €14.20 for vans 2–3 m high. The toll is waived when the Port d'Envalira pass is closed by weather. The pass itself (2,408 m) is free but slower and more exposed to snow.
  • Winter rules in Andorra (1 November to 15 May): every vehicle must have winter/M+S tyres or carry snow chains. In a "red" snow phase, chains are mandatory and the speed limit is 30 km/h.
  • Check conditions: mobilitat.ad and meteo.ad (Andorra), Servei Català de Trànsit (Catalonia).

Pros: full flexibility. Cons: a long drive after a flight with high mountain roads at the end, winter equipment, traffic through Andorra la Vella and Escaldes at peak times, and paid parking in the resorts.

3. Taxi

Licensed taxis wait at T1 and T2. A metered fare to Grandvalira is long-distance and not fixed. Ask for a written price before departure, including tolls and night or weekend supplements.

4. Private transfer (pre-booked, fixed price)

A private transfer means your driver meets you at arrivals and takes you straight to your hotel or apartment in Soldeu, El Tarter, Canillo or Pas de la Casa, with no change in Andorra la Vella and no chains to fit.

ANDY has been based in Andorra since 2021, with private vehicles and drivers specially assigned to Andorra, so the CG-2 and the Envalira road are a daily route:

  • Fixed price, booked in advance: you see the full price before paying.
  • Flight tracking included: if your flight is late, the driver adjusts.
  • Free cancellation up to 24h before pickup.
  • Rated 4.8/5 on Trustpilot.

The price is per vehicle, not per person, which works well for ski groups and families with lots of equipment.

Ski-season tips for Grandvalira

  • Saturday changeover: Saturdays bring the heaviest traffic into and out of the resorts, and Sunday afternoons the longest queues at the Spanish border. For return flights, leave a generous buffer.
  • Snow days: the Envalira pass can close in bad weather. The tunnel normally stays open, and its toll is waived when the pass is closed. The C-16 north of Berga can also need chains.
  • Skis and boards: tell your transfer company how many ski or snowboard bags you are bringing, so they send a vehicle with enough space.
  • Pas de la Casa drop-offs: the town has traffic restrictions in the centre. Check with your accommodation where vehicles can stop.
  • Late arrivals: the last Andbus coach of the day reaches Andorra la Vella in the early hours, when local buses are not running. A pre-booked transfer avoids being stuck mid-way.
  • Staying in Arinsal or Pal instead? See our guide Barcelona Airport to Arinsal.

Border and customs: what to know

Andorra is not in the EU and is not part of the Schengen area, so there is a customs post at the Spanish border (La Farga de Moles). Bring your passport or national ID card. When you return to Spain, duty-free allowances apply to tobacco, alcohol and other goods: check the Spanish Agencia Tributaria limits before you shop. Expect queues leaving Andorra on Sunday afternoons.

FAQ

Allow about 3h30 by car or private transfer in good conditions. By public transport, the Andbus coach takes about 3h30 to Andorra la Vella, plus the L3 local bus up to Soldeu.
